Potowatomi zoo

The Potawatomi Zoo located in Potawatomi Park in South Bend, Indiana is one of the family-fun places to visit in the United States. It is a spread over 23-acre zoological park featuring over 400 animals to inspire education, conservation, and quality of animal life. All year long you can see the animals at the zoo. You just have to make sure that they should not be feed without permission.

 

The zoo not only features the animals but also offers attractions, exhibits, or experiences that consist of educational programs, birthday parties, and sponsored contests to engage the visitors.

 

Attractions:

  1. Zoo Train: You can hop on the little Potawatomi Zoo train with your kid and enjoy the scenic ride. The train is going to take you by Zoo Pond, South & North America Exhibit, Otter Exhibit, the Zoo Veterinary Hospital, and Australia Exhibit. The ride depends on the weather so it is not necessary that it will operate daily.

 

  1. Endangered Species: At the zoo, there is a carousel featuring endangered species. You can take the ride anytime from 10:00 a.m. till 4:45 p.m. Take a spin at this carousel with 18 unique exotic animals. Each animal on the carousel is hand-crafted and painted by skilled artisans. The basic animals of the carousel include a lion, zebra, leopard, tortoise, and dog. Furthermore, each animal displays a special message.

 

  1. Animal Feeding: Want to take the chance to feed the animals from your hand? Here you will get this opportunity. Reach the feed machines of the zoo and feed the goats and donkeys right out of your hand.

Plan your visit: The zoo opens daily from 10 am to 5 pm except for the day of the special event. The entry tickets for adults and children from age 15 to 61 is $11, children of age 3 to 14 is $9 and adults who are 62 have to pay $9. Children under 2 years are allowed to enter free of cost.

 

What to Expect: Unlike the daily routine, there are some special days on which events are organized at the zoo. It includes eat & drink events, discovery camp, adventure camp, etc. Additionally, various education programs are organized by the zoo committee. You can come with kids and see them learning about the wildlife in this zoo.
