The South Mountain Park is a collection of three mountain ranges namely Ma Ha Tauk, Gila, and Guadalupe. The park is located directly south of downtown Phoenix. The South Mountain offers plenty of trails for hiking, horseback riding, and bicycling, etc. The highest mountain peak is Mount Suppoa. You can spot this point easily as it is a home for 20 different radio and TV transmission towers.
There are more than 30 trails where visitors can stroll but the Mormon trail is one of the best trails where you can get great views of the valley of the Sun, lots of desert vegetation, and few clouds. The trail is designated as multi-purpose but not many mountain bikers visit this trail. The hikers can expect a steep climb to the top. Still, the hike is rated as moderate and is still less difficult than Piestewa Peak. The Mormon Trail has proximity to other South Mountain trails which can extend you’re your hike to five miles.
At Dobbins Lookout, you can catch breathtaking and panoramic vistas of the valley. Dobbins Lookout is a 2,330-foot high observation point in the South Mountain Park. The road to the top is steep but at reaching the top, you will be rewarded with scenic beauty. A stone observation deck offers an awesome vantage point for the Phoenix view.
There are several restaurants featured by the business but ‘The Farm’ is truly a delight. Customers can choose from a variety of soups, sandwiches, salads, and baked items. You can also take your lunch to the grassy area and have it under the shadow of the shady trees. South Mountain Park and Preserve is a great place to enjoy a scenic drive.
